Begin discussions by randomly selecting students to make a statement about a given topic on the board. The statement can have elements of truth or be completely false, it doesn't matter and the student doesn't have to tell anyone if they think its true or not. The class instead has a discussion as to weather or not they think the statement is true or not. Additional suggestions Place a despised but necessary task after discussion so that it could be pushed back by a longer discussion for participation motivation.
